KIA ORA TEAM BAYVIEW
And just like that term 3 comes to an end! It has been a full-on term with lots of new learning for our students and exciting events organised by our staff, learners and parents. Thank you all for your support during the term and for making Bayview School and Community such a lovely and inclusive place.
BAYVIEW EXPO
Thank you to everyone who braved the weather and came along to our expo. We hope you got valuable information from the afternoon. We are hoping to make this an annual event and next year will be looking at a time in term 2.
CAMP CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER
Next year our Year 5 and 6 learners will be attending a 5 day school camp at Camp Adair in the Hunua Ranges. To help with camp costs the children will be selling chocolates from 17th October until 14th November. 80 cents from each chocolate bar sold goes towards paying a child’s camp fee. In the past we have had children totally pay for their camp through this fundraiser. We hope you can support a child to go to camp by purchasing a chocolate bar or 2!
COLOUR RUN FUNDRAISER
On Friday 1st November we will be holding a whole school colour run. We are using the ‘Go Raise Fun Run Fundraising’ platform for this event. Information about this will be coming out at the beginning of next term. During the fun run students are invited to wear a white T-shirt as during the run they will be covered in colourful dye. This is always a fun day and we hope you can join us!
TERM 4
Term 4 begins on Monday 14th October. During term 4 we have lots of events that celebrate the 2024 school year. I have added these to the Dates for your Diaries section.
During term 4 we often set up for the 2025 school year and this is a time where our Year 5 students can volunteer for special roles in the school such as school patrols (NB training for this is on the 18th November). We will also be choosing our Head Girl and Head Boy for 2025. If your child is currently year 5 you may wish to have a conversation with them about putting their names forward for these special roles.
In 2025 we will set up other volunteer roles such as Chain Gang, Librarians, Lodge monitors, Bike and Scooter monitors, Peer Mediators, Events organisers, Breakfast Club monitors, School Leaders (including house captains), Eco Warriors, Chicken Ranglers, Bee Keeper club, Gate monitors, and other volunteer roles.
DUNK IT FOR PLUNKET
On Monday we held Dunk it for Plunket where the children were able to purchase a hot chocolate in the morning with a biscuit. At first break a team of teachers then played basketball against one of our student teams. It was highly competitive with both sides doing their best. If you ask the children they would say the kids team won but if you asked the teachers they would say the teachers won, it was that close! All money raised will go to Plunket. Thank you to Quinn and her mum for organising this event!
DISCO
Tonight, Thursday 26th September from 5pm-6.30pm we are holding an end-of-term disco for Bayview School students! We are getting in early before daylight saving begins on the 29th of September! Please note that the children will not be allowed to walk home by themselves. An adult will need to come and pick them up at 6.30pm.
Please note the earlier time. This is so that our hall hirers can still use the hall that evening.
OUT OF ZONE ENROLMENTS
Please note our out-of-zone enrolments for children wanting to start during 2025 are now open. We only have 20 places available for 2025. If you do not live in the Bayview School zone and have a child due to start school during 2025 then an out-of-zone enrolment will be necessary for them to attend Bayview School.
LESLEY ROBERTS
After an association with Bayview School of over 32 years our amazing bursar Lesley Roberts has called time! Lesley started at Bayview School when her children were in Year 1. Lesley started on the Board of Trustees and as part of that started overseeing the finances of Bayview School. Lesley very quickly proved her worth and became the School Executive Officer overseeing the school office as well as doing the school finances. Lesley has been the heart and soul of Bayview School for all these years. There is not one thing at Bayview School that Lesley hasn’t played a part in from buildings and grounds to school productions and the school lunchroom! Over the past couple of years Lesley has slowly become part time in her role at school leaving the school office and focussing on the financial side of school management. At the start of this year Lesley made the difficult decision to retire fully. We know she will now get to spend lots of time with her husband Wayne, children Sarah and Craig, and her much loved grandchildren!
Lesley you have been our rock and lighthouse. We thank you for everything you have done for Bayview School and community. Enjoy your retirement.
SAVE THE DATE for our Colour Run: 1st November 2024
Bayview School is running a Colour Run fundraiser to assist us in raising funds towards building an interactive play area for our juniors in the courtyard.
The funds raised will help us to improve our school outdoor environment for all our current and future students to enjoy. Providing our young people with enhanced outdoor spaces will allow them to make the most of all areas whilst at school.
Our students will come together and participate in our Colour Run. They will be seeking online sponsorship for their efforts on Colour Run day, all funds raised will go towards building an interactive play area for our juniors in the courtyard.
As well as raising much needed funds, our Colour Run will be a fun event for all our students to take part in. This event will be a highlight on our school calendar!
We look forward to our extended school community coming together to support our school, and our students having a memorable, fun experience.
Thank you for supporting Bayview School.
