KIA ORA TEAM BAYVIEW

We are entering into our final weeks for 2024 and they are crammed packed with events and celebrations. It can be an exciting but sometimes overwhelming time for some of our students. We are noticing that they are very tired with many kids having small accidents and tripping over. We know they are really going to enjoy the summer break!

THANK YOU FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Bayview School Board of Trustees would like to say thank you for the support you have given the school this year. This is to the parents who have coached sports teams, helped with production, attended school trips, sewn toi and showquest costumes, assisted in the library, stood on patrols with our monitors, attended school expos and showcases or any other support that has been given over the year. We truly appreciate your time and support.

LIBRARY STOCKTAKE

Our annual library stocktake is completed but there is still time to return any library books you find at home! We would also love to have our readers returned please. If you come across any reading books under couches or beds or stuffed at the bottom of school bags please send these back to school also.

It can cost a lot of money to replace lost or damaged items so having them returned is a great help.

SOME SAD FAREWELLS:

It is not often that we have to farewell staff but this year we are saying goodbye to three of our staff.

Toni Hoy is leaving Bayview School after working alongside us for a number of years. Toni is a creative force to be reckoned with! She is moving on to Glenfield Intermediate School to be their specialist art teacher and leader of Showcase and Toi. Toni has been a huge asset to Bayview School and we know this will continue at GIS. I foresee an even better liaison between the intermediate and ourselves in the future.

Sue Millett has been at Bayview for a number of years as a classroom teacher, a senior leader and currently as our ESOL teacher. Sue and her family are relocating to Paihia in the Bay of Islands for a complete lifestyle change! Sue has made a real difference for our learners in all kinds of ways and we are sad to say farewell but know her future looks bright (and probably more relaxed!)

We are also saying ‘see ya later’ to Raewyn Kitson who has been an amazing teacher aide at Bayview. Raewyn has supported a range of learners and our staff. We know it is not ‘goodbye’ to Raewyn but rather see you later!

All of these amazing women have left a mark on our hearts and we are grateful to each of them for their passion and skill.

REPORTS

On Monday the 16th December your child will be bringing home their end-of-year report. In the report envelope, you will also find our final newsletter for the year and a stationery list. We hope you find the report informative and insightful.

During the last week of school, your child will be bringing home all of their stationery and any work they have completed that has been on display. We are also hopeful we will be able to send them home with all of their labeled uniform and other belongings!
